Hi Doug,
I hope all is well. I think spring may have finally come - it's not 10:00AM here and the temperature outside is already 74 degrees. Weather like today's makes it almost worth having had a long cold winter....
I haven't been in touch for a while, but life tends to get busy around here, much like most other places, I imagine. I've attached a photo taken on 7/26/2003. My wedding photo. As you can see, I'm really, totally bald now. The only thing that redeems that is the lady standing next to me.... :-) Her name is Martha - she has a 12 year-old daughter named Kerry (fits in the middle of my 2, Jonathan who is 14 and Nancy who is 11). Martha is a trauma/emergency nurse in one of the Manchester hospitals, and I'm going through some career morphology myself. Since the IT world (especially data communications and networks, which I worked in) collapsed on itself, I had to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. It took me a while, but I am currently in Paramedic school (I've been an EMT since 1994, and I figured it was time to take it the rest of the way). The program I'm in is full-time, and academically it's pretty harsh. But I'm holding my own, and I expect to be licensed by July of 2005. I do work currently as an EMT for two different providers, and they're supportive of the effort I'm making. One of them is an Advanced Life Support agency, so I expect to be able to work at the medic level for them when I'm done with school. But we'll see.
Anyway, that's what's happening here. Take care of yourself, and I'm sure we'll chat soon.
Best,
Walt
