Howdy from the Big Fat Steve band!

The BFS band has been rockin’ the Kasbah for many years now playing a unique mix of Swing and Rockabilly music. We got the name from someone that told us that we had the FATTEST sound he had ever herd for a 4-piece band. We never meant it to be a copy of Big Sandy or other big-named bands. It just seemed to fit and we kept it. If you’re a total hardcore serious rockabilly cat you may not dig our band, but if you like new and old Rockabilly mixed in with rockin’ swing, like to dance, and have a ball, then we are the band for you!
The band has played with some great cats over the years, including Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Asleep at the Wheel, Jerry Lee Lewis and more. Our Influence has been anyone past or present that has ever had a swingin’ beat that makes you want to boogie.
Our favorite gigs have always been small nightclubs, fairs, and hot rod shows. I belong to a great car club named the Black Jacks here in the high desert and drive a 59 Chevy. The boys in the club are hardcore and so are the cars. The whole band has had a love for old cars and an old way of life.
The band is a four piece, including Greg on “dog house” bass, Bobby Ray on drums, Deano on steel guitar, and Steve on lead guitar. We love to have cats sit in, so if you ever see us with a honkin’ sax or piano, it's still us, rockin’ the joint the best we can.
I love music, but I always had a hard time trying to be something else or be what everyone else wanted me to be, or play what I thought made everyone happy. Then years ago at the Palomino club in L.A., we were playing and I met the late, great Ricky Nelson, and he told me “but it's alright now, I learned my lesson well, you see you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself.”
So that's what we’re all about, playing the stuff we like. I hope you like it too!
